An Arsenal supporter caught on camera indulging in a pre-match snack of carrot batons went viral on Twitter ahead of Friday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The Gooner was broadcast live on Sky Sports nibbling on the raw vegetable cuboids and many fans took issue with his choice of matchday food - a fare that is traditionally limited to a pie or hot dog.

One Twitter user wrote: 'F***ing  carrot sticks at the football.. Arsenal fans summed up in one picture'.

The fan outed himself on Twitter, writing: 'So, apparently me and my carrots have been on tv!'

Another said: 'If you’re going to take carrot batons to a footy match then don’t forget the hummus. Essential dip'.

After being made aware of his newfound notoriety, the carrot-eating fan, Jonny Singer, outed himself on Twitter.

Singer wrote: 'So, apparently me and my carrots have been on tv! Merry Christmas everyone!'
