Roy Hodgson is convinced it is only a matter of time before Crystal Palace are faced with a big-money offer for Wilfried Zaha.

The forward has been in excellent form over the past two months, leading Palace on an eight-game unbeaten run and off the bottom of the table.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea are all said to be monitoring the 25-year-old, who has rebuilt his career at Palace after failing to make the grade at Manchester United following his £15million switch to Old Trafford in 2013.

But Hodgson is realistic in his belief that the forward could soon get a second chance at a major club.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's clash against Arsenal, and the subsequent January transfer window in which Zaha will doubtless be linked with moves away, Hodgson said: 'Speculation is what it is. The only time I will ever get interested in a situation is if the chairman comes to me and says that there is a situation the club has to deal with.

'But I would expect one day that if Wilf continues as he is doing at the moment, then the club will be faced with a situation where someone wants to put a lot of money on the table in order to prise him away.

'That will be a massive decision for the club because I know how much everyone at Crystal Palace - fans and owners - appreciates him and he is the last person we want to lose.'

Hodgson added: 'It is no good making bold statements that this and that won't happen because things do happen and when they do you deal with them.'
