West Ham have denied making an offer for Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

Reports had linked David Moyes with an ambitious January move for the 19-year-old, but assistant Alan Irvine insists they have not submitted a bid.

Davies has been in and out of the Everton side following the arrival of Sam Allardyce in late November and he was left on the bench for Saturday's defeat at Tottenham.Ā

But former Toffees No 2 Irvine, who helped Davies develop during his time as the head of Everton's academy, says the Hammers have not made a move.Ā 


'I know him well, worked with him since he was 13 or 14 and is a really talented player but to my understanding, we have not made any approach to Everton,' he said.

Davies has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, but is yet to find the back of the net.

Moyes is yet to make his first signing at West Ham, although he hopes to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes.

The club are unwilling to allow Andy Carroll to join Chelsea on loan and rate the striker at around Ā£30m. Antonio Conte is ready to pay between Ā£15m and Ā£20m.Ā Ā 

One player who does look to be on his way out of the London Stadium is Diafra Sakho, with Crystal Palace still interested.Ā
