Arsenal step up bid for Aubameyang

SIMON JONES: Arsenal have stepped up their bid to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Ivan Gazidis, Sven Mislinstat and contract negotiator Huss Fahmy arrived in Germany on Sunday for face-to-face negotiations.

The striker was left out of Dortmund's squad for the 1-1 draw at Hertha Berlin as the club look to resolve the Gabon's future.

Dortmund have rejected Arsenal's first bid of £44m but it is anticipated that the Gunners are set to give Aubameyang a way out of Signal Iduna Park by offering £53million for his services.

Some transfer news from the Championship

SIMON JONES: Derby County ran the rule over Millwall striker Lee Gregory on Saturday.

The Championship promotion chasers are looking for options despite signing Cameron Jerome as Chris Martin is talking to Sunderland and Reading while Darren Bent is weighing up a move away also.

Gregory, 29, is out of contract in the summer. He has scored four goals this season and 58 in 137 games since joining from Halifax Town in 2014.

SIMON JONES: Leeds United have had a £4million bid rejected for West Bromwich Albion forward Tyler Roberts.

The 19-year-old is out of contract in the summer and could even sign a pre-contract with either Rangers or Marseille who both want him too.

That would mean Albion ending up with little more than £300,000 compensation for the Wales U21 international who they value highly. They have offered him a new contract and intimated he could have a role to play for Alan Pardew in the Premier league.

However, Roberts, who has been on loan at League One Walsall, is wary of staying and not getting a chance to play.

Roberts has developed this season thanks to his experience in League One and the prospect of carrying that momentum into Leeds United's promotion push is understood to be tempting for the young forward.

West Brom keen on Newcastle striker Mitrovic

West Brom are reportedly lining up a move for Newcastle outcast Aleksandar Mitrovic.

According to Sky Sports, the Baggies are keen to bolster their attack and have identified Mitrovic as a key target this window.

The Serbian has not started a league game this season and looks surplus to requirements at St James' Park.

Alan Pardew admitted earlier this month that funds are unavailable and serious investment will only be made if they can raise money by selling defender Jonny Evans.

Mitrovic joined Newcastle for £13million from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015 and has scored 14 times in his 33 appearances for the club.

Pogba wants to double his wages to match Sanchez's

Paul Pogba is to 'demand a sharp increase on his wage' at Manchester United as the midfielder wants to match Alexis Sanchez's £450,000-a-week deal.

The Frenchman's agent, Mino Raiola, will advise the midfielder that his current £200,000-a-week contract does not reflect his worth at Old Trafford, according to The Mirror.

Pogba has three years left to run on the contract he signed in 2016 having rejoined the club from Juventus in a record £89m deal at the time.

Dortmund offer Schurrle to Premier League clubs on loan

JOE BERNSTEIN: German World Cup winner Andre Schurrle has been made available for loan by Borussia Dortmund with the Bundesliga club accepting they will have to continue paying half his £150,000-a-week wages.

Newcastle and Stoke are among the clubs considering a move for the 27-year-old who won a Premier League title at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho and set up the winning goal for Mario Goetze in the last World Cup final.

However, he has not featured regularly for Dortmund and the club want to make a saving on some of his salary even though they would ideally prefer to send him out on an 18-month loan.
