  • This seemingly dismisses a move for Nice's highly rated star Jean Michael Seri
  • The 26-year-old has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs
  • Seri has 18 months left on his contract, which includes a £35m release clause

Jose Mourinho has admitted Manchester United will not be involved in any further transfer business in January, ruling out a move for Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

The 26-year-old Ivorian has attracted interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City but reports suggested United were in pole position for his signature.

However, in a press conference before Friday night's FA Cup tie at League Two Yeovil, Mourinho ruled out any further arrivals or departures at Old Trafford this month following Axel Tuanzebe's loan move to Aston Villa.

'No, I don't speak about players,' Mourinho told reporters.

'Tuanzebe goes on loan, nobody is leaving, nobody is coming. Our transfer market in the summer will be short.'

Seri's performances for Nice have seen him courted by Europe's elite and the midfielder was said to have been devastated after a summer move to Barcelona collapsed.

A summer move for Seri is still an option though as United prepare themselves for the retirement of Michael Carrick.

Seri has 18 months left on his current contract in the south of France, which includes a £35million release clause that makes him an attractive and affordable option.

United's sole January signing, Alexis Sanchez, is set to make his debut in Friday night's FA Cup clash at Huish Park after completing his move from Arsenal in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
