Greg Clarke's position as chairman of the Football Association has come under fresh scrutiny over his alleged handling of the Eni Aluko affair.

The Chelsea striker claims former England Women's boss, Mark Sampson, made racist remarks towards her, an accusation that he strenuously denies.

Aluko has claimed that Sampson told her to make sure her Nigerian relatives did not bring the Ebola virus to Wembley.

And now it emerges that, according to The Guardian, the FA chief replied with a 14-word email when confronted with a six-page dossier by the PFA over the incident.

Clarke allegedly sent a one-line response back, saying: 'I've no idea why you are sending me this. Perhaps you could enlighten me?'

The chairman was one of four senior executives to receive the document, which accused the governing body of deliberately sabotaging Aluko's England career to protect Sampson.

It set out a series of claims which detailed 'the incontrovertible evidence that makes it clear the purported investigation was a sham'.

The letter was sent in November 2016 and was the first time the FA were informed of Aluko's accusation towards Sampson.

This emerges just two weeks after the FA supremo claimed that Sampson should have been sacked 'three or four years ago'.

Sampson was dismissed last month for having a relationship with one of his players while at Bristol Academy.

He was sacked after chief executive Martin Glenn re-examined an FA report into Sampson's behaviour from March 2015 following an investigation which began in March 2014, shortly after his appointment.
