ANGER: Arsene Wenger delivered a scathing attack on Bayern winger Arjen Robben [GETTY]

The Gunners failed to overcome a 2-0 deficit from the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 clash, but showed plenty of spirit to cause an upset in the 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern could have snatched a late victory had Thomas Muller's spot-kick, won after Robben went down under the challenge of Laurent Koscielny, not been stopped by Lukasz Fabianski - deputising for Wojciech Szczesny.

Robben, the man tripped by Szczesny in the first-leg to result in the goalkeeper seeing red, was lucky to not be booked in the opening 45 minutes in Bavaria last night having fallen under the challenge of Santi Cazorla.

And Wenger, who had called for a strong performance from Norwegian referee Svein Oddvar Moen, was clearly once again less than impressed with the antics of Robben.

DIVE: Wenger accused Robben of being a 'very good diver' [GETTY]

"Robben is very good at getting the maximum of nothing and he is a great player and as well a very good diver, but it is part of it," said Wenger.

"He is a fantastic player, I would not deny that, he's one of the best players in the world.

"But he gets in front of a player and then he slows down and goes down. He gets the free-kicks.

"That's where we spoke about yesterday that the referee, if he gives him a yellow card on the first one when he goes down, he will not do it again."
