Wenger celebrates his 1,000th game as Arsenal boss in the titanic clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Goals from Samuel Eto'o and Gary Cahill booked the Blues' place in the last eight on a night when Chelsea presented their former striker Didier Drogba with a silver boot.

But Mourinho said the club were not planning to mark Wenger's achievement in any way on Saturday.

Asked why, he said: "Because the best present is to have 1,000 matches in the same club. If Chelsea gives me the chance to arrive to 1,000 matches, I'll be the happiest man there is in the world."

Mourinho (below) stated again he wanted Manchester United to join his Blues in the quarter-finals, by overhauling their 2-0 deficit against Olympiakos tonight.

"I believe they can do it - I hope they do it," he said.

Chelsea's progress ensured at least one Premier League side are in the last eight, unlike last season.

"To come from the Europa League to the quarter-finals of the Champions League is important for the club, important for the players," said Mourinho.

"We are a Champions League club and now we are among the best eight, the best clubs in the world, and we are there. The players deserve to be there."

Mourinho even had praise for German ref Felix Brych for not sending off Oscar.

Still angry about Chris Foy's dismissal of Willian and Ramires in Saturday's 1-0 loss at Aston Villa, he said: "There was a beautiful tackle Oscar did that, with another referee, would be a second yellow card.

"But this referee saw perfectly that Oscar made a fantastic tackle."

Galatasaray boss Roberto Mancini, who admitted Drogba and the rest of his team had played poorly, had a little dig at Mourinho by insisting his former club Manchester City would pip Chelsea to the title.

He said: "City are the best team. They have the best players. Manchester City have a big chance to win the Premier League."
