Jose Mourinho has agreed a £48m deal to become the next Manchester United boss, according to Football Insider.

It's claimed the former Chelsea boss will be handed a three-year contract worth £308,000-per-week.

The two parties have been in talks for the last six weeks but he will not take charge immediately.

Mourinho will reportedly replace Louis van Gaal in the summer.

Paul Scholes wants to return to Old Trafford as a coach, the Manchester Evening News claim.

However, the Red Devils legend will not make the first move in a bid to land a backroom role.

Scholes would ditch his role as a pundit for BT Sport and ITV if they club were to offer him a position.

The 41-year-old has been involved in a long-running spat with Van Gaal this season.

RETURN: Paul Scholes is open to a United return

The Guardian report on Arsene Wenger's decision to snub United's deadline day move for Mathieu Debuchy.

The Arsenal boss did not want to strengthen a rival and was surprised they tried.

“I hope that’s not surprising to you,” Wenger said. “It’s true. I stand up for that. There was nothing shocking in that.

“If Man United wants to buy a player‚ you loan players out to clubs who do not have the resources but not to direct opponents. I was surprised, yes [that United tried]. I can understand it but I found it logical [to block the loan].”
