But Mourinho wants Ibrahimovic back and will make an offer of a return in January.
Ibrahimovic is said to be making a speedy recovery and he’s continuing his rehabilitation at United’s Carrington training base.
The Daily Recordsay Mourinho wants Ibrahimovic in January plus three more new faces to arrive in this window.
A holding midfielder, full-back and one of a winger or No.10 is on Mourinho’s wish list.
A return for Ibrahimovic would negate the need to sign a new No.10.
Mourinho thinks £75m man Romulu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford can do the job until the 35-year-old’s proposed return in the New Year.
Ibrahimovic has been dropping subtle hints about where his future lies this week.
And shortly after he suffered his serious knee injury in April the Swede was typically bullish.
He said: "It's no news I got injured so I will be out of football for a while.
“I will go through this like everything else and come back even stronger.
“So far I played with one leg so it shouldn't be any problem.
"One thing is for sure, I decide when it's time to stop and nothing else. Giving up is not an option. See you soon."
