United parted with an initial fee of £75m to sign Lukaku from Everton.

He opened his Red Devils account in the 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Real Salt Lake this morning.

The Belgium international has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most prolific frontmen in recent seasons with only Harry Kane finding the back of the net more regularly last term.

But Herrera insists his new teammate is more than just a goalscorer, hailing Lukaku’s work off the ball.

“It was a fantastic goal," the Spaniard told MUTV. "He didn’t panic, he was very calm, so it was a fantastic goal.

“He’s going to score a lot of goals for us, but I also want to speak about the work he does holding the ball for the team.

“He’s very strong and it’s very difficult to win the ball from him, so he’s going to be very important for us.

“We have many players like Micki [Henrikh Mkhitaryan], Marcus [Rashford] and Anthony [Martial], who are very good in a one-against-one, but we need one like Romelu.

“He’s strong and can hold the ball for us. Sometimes, when you are defending, you can keep the ball and he can hold it for you, so the work he does for us is massive."
