Manchester United have opened talks with Paris St-Germain star Marco Verratti.
The Italy international has been linked with a move to the Red Devils, with Barcelona also keen on the 24-year-old.
And Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb say United are hoping to beat Barca to the midfielder.
They reckon the Red Devils have opened talks with Verratti over a huge summer switch.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to land the PSG man and he reportedly dreams of signing Verratti.
Gareth Bale has an unwritten agreement to join United next summer.
Bale, 28, is a long-term Red Devils target, with Mourinho an admirer of the ex-Tottenham star.

And Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon now say the Wales international has an unwritten agreement to join United.
They reckon Bale wants one more season at the Bernabeu and if his injuries return or Real buy a new Galactico like Kylian Mbappe, he will move to the Red Devils.
Don Balon say Bale would cost United around £89m (€100m) next summer.
Anthony Martial is open to a loan move to Inter Milan.
The United star struggled to get game time under Jose Mourinho last season, starting 18 Premier League clashes.
And according to Italian outlet Gianluca Di Marzio, positive talks have been held about Martial heading to Serie A.
They say Inter have been told Martial, 21, is open to joining the Italian giants this summer on loan.
Martial could be included in a swap deal to finally bring Inter winger Ivan Perisic to United.
