The France international has spent four years at Anfield after leaving behind hometown club Paris St-Germain in an £18m deal.

But his Reds career has been all but over for the best part of 12 months after he got on the wrong side of Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool gaffer banished Sakho from his first-team plans last summer and loaned him to Crystal Palace for the second half of the season.

And Klopp is keen to get rid of the 27-year-old on a permanent basis in order to raise funds to make his own signings.

Palace are known to be interested in taking Sakho on loan again.

However, they may lose out to Roma in the hunt for his signature.

According to The Sun, the Serie A giants have approached Liverpool about Sakho.

The newspaper say Roma were told the centre-back can only leave for £30m.

The Sun do not indicate whether that has put them off a potential deal.

Although Roma have shown a willingness to splash the cash having made a hefty bid for Leicester star Riyad Mahrez this month.
