Naby Keita has agreed terms with Liverpool but may have to hand in a transfer request at RB Leipzig to complete his switch to Merseyside.
That’s according to German football expert Lee Price, who claims the long-running transfer saga surrounding Keita could continue right up until deadline day.
Price said: "Naby Keita has already agreed terms with Liverpool but there is a growing acceptance on Merseyside that the deal will have to wait a year.
"The player himself, though, could yet seek to force the issue with a transfer request. This is a deal that could go right down to the wire, and prove touch and go either way."
Christian Pulisic could move to Liverpool this summer due to Jurgen Klopp being the boss at Anfield, ex-Reds star Steve Nicol believes.
Borussia Dortmund ace Pulisic has been linked with Liverpool amid the ongoing rumours touting Philippe Coutinho with a move to Barcelona.
Nicol told ESPN: "I would suggest that the Jurgen Klopp factor at Liverpool, because clearly he knew all about Pulisic, I’m sure he had some sort of relationship with Pulisic.
"That would be the one thing other than money that would maybe make Pulisic go from Dortmund to Liverpool - that Klopp connection. If Klopp’s not at Liverpool it’s got no chance of happening."
Goalkeeper Shamal George has signed a new contract with Liverpool and joined Carlisle on loan.
The 19-year-old said: "It has been a dream for me to play for this club, so to get another contract on top of what I’ve already had is a good feeling.
"For my first year I didn’t have too much luck, I was injured for quite a lot of it. Hopefully I can push on and this loan can do quite a lot for me.
"Game time is important for me because last year I didn’t play much. Game time is the main focus. Liverpool will be watching me so hopefully they’ll see I’m good enough and I can come back and push on here."
