Gareth Bale has threatened to quit Real Madrid for Manchester United.

The Wales international has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils in recent months.

However, Jose Mourinho described a move for Bale as 'mission impossible'.

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol say the 28-year-old could force a move to United if Real cannot guarantee him regular game time.

The La Liga champions are worried about Bale's injuries as well as having young stars like Marco Asensio and Isco ready to play when their record signing is sidelined.

Nemanja Matic will help Paul Pogba shine at United, according to Denis Irwin.

The Chelsea star joined in a £40m deal this week and Irwin reckons he's the perfect player for the Red Devils.

“Matic is a player United have needed for quite a while,” said Irwin.

“He’s experienced, he’s not an ‘all-singing, all-dancing’ player but he keeps it simple and does his job.

“He knows the Premier League, having won the title twice in the last three seasons at Chelsea, and he knows how Jose Mourinho wants him and the team to play.

“He’s also a signing designed to let Pogba off the leash a little bit. In pre-season Pogba has looked good and has been given a free role.”

Sergi Roberto is open to joining United this summer.

The Barcelona star had a hit-and-miss season for the Spanish giants last time out.

The Spain international, 25, has been linked with a Nou Camp exit in recent weeks, with Chelsea said to be keen on the midfielder.

However, according to Diario Gol, United are also in the hunt for Roberto.

They say the Barca ace is a big admirer of Red Devils boss Mourinho, who has been in contact with Roberto.

Diario Gol add that Roberto is open to joining United this summer.

However, the midfielder wants to know if he will get regular game time in his favoured position next season under Ernesto Valverde before making his decision.

Diario Gol say he will not hesitate to quit the Nou Camp for United if he cannot be guaranteed first-team football at Barca.
