Jose Mourinho said last week United are still in the hunt for a winger with Perisic understood to be their main target.

The United boss is a big admirer of the Croatia international and is keen to push through a deal this summer

But Inter are asking for £48million for their star man and the Red Devils are reluctant to meet their asking price.

And Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Old Trafford club have cooled their interest in the 28-year-old.

"Perisic could stay," Di Marzio said.

"Manchester United has dropped off from the radar and have not made another attempt.

"Even if Perisic does not leave, Inter could still bring in another offensive winger."

United have already recruited Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic for close to £140m this summer.

But Mourinho is keen to bolster his squad further before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
