Tottenham have launched a bid for Schalke star and Liverpool target Max Meyer

Spurs are yet to sign a new player this summer with Mauricio Pochettino struggling to nail down his potential targets.

Schalke attacking midfielder Meyer has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several seasons.

The Germany international is on Liverpool’s radar while Tottenham are known to be fans as well.

Transfermarketweb claim sources in both the UK and Germany have told them that Spurs have tabled an offer for the 21-year-old.

The reports do not state how much Tottenham have bid but Meyer is thought to be valued at around £20m.

Meyer’s current contract at Schalke runs out next June and the Bundesliga club are at risk of losing him for free.

That could boost Tottenham’s chances of luring him to north London this summer.

Liverpool and Tottenham are both keen on Schalke star Max Meyer

Starsport understand Liverpool tracked Meyer at the European Under-21s tournament in Poland earlier this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has already bolstered his attacking ranks with a club-record swoop for Mohamed Salah.

But Klopp could move for Meyer as well, especially given that Barcelona are still keeping tabs on Reds star Philippe Coutinho.
