The left-back is due to complete a season-long loan switch to Elland Road this week.

He had a medical last week but there is yet to be official confirmation of the switch.

And it’s now emerged the United ace snubbed interest from Ajax before deciding on a move to Leeds.

ESPN report the Dutch side held talks with Borthwick-Jackson’s representatives about a temporary deal.

But the player fancied a move back to the Championship instead.

The 20-year-old joined Wolves last summer on loan but the loan deal didn’t work out.

He played just six times for the Black Country side and ended the campaign back in United’s Under-23 team.

Leeds got their season underway yesterday with a 3-2 win at Bolton.

Kalvin Phillips scored twice and Chris Wood got the other as Thomas Christiansen made the perfect start to his reign in charge at Elland Road.

“It was the game I expected – a tough game against a good opponent – and it was a result that I had dreamed of; taking the three points," Christiansen said.

“The heart rate went up a little bit!”
