Virgil van Dijk will join Liverpool this summer, Shay Given says.

The Southampton star has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds in recent months.

Liverpool ended their interest after being accused of tapping up the Dutch defender.

However, Given reckons the Reds will eventually get their man.

“That’s sort of gone on over the whole summer that transfer,” Given said on Sky Sports.

“It should go through, I don’t know sitting here obviously today but I think he’s desperate to go to Liverpool.

“You can see by yesterday’s defending that he’d be the perfect fit to go into that defence and head some of the balls clear and marshal them. He’s a fantastic centre-half.”

Shay Given says Philippe Coutinho will join Barcelona

Given also reckons Philippe Coutinho will join Barcelona for a big-money fee.

The Spanish giants want the Brazil international as a replacement for Neymar.

Barca are said to be willing to pay around £90m for Coutinho, 25.

And Given says Coutinho will be on his way soon.

“They (strikers) always get the big transfer fees and big salaries, they say the hardest thing in football is to score goals, it’s not east keeping them out either!” Given said on Sky Sports.

“They get the big bucks, Neymar for £200m has blown the whole transfer market out of the window now.

“Coutinho, they’re all talking about him this week, so it will be interesting to see what happens with him.

“Liverpool are in a strong position, they know Barcelona are desperate for him.

“Liverpool know Barcelona have £200m as well of course from the Neymar deal.

“They are trying to hold out for as much money as possible but it looks like he’s going to go.”

Lucas Vazquez will make a decision on his future in the next 48 hours.

The Real Madrid ace has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

And Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon say the 26-year-old winger is concerned about a lack of opportunities at the Bernabeu.

They reckon Vazquez is looking to leave Real and he has several attractive offers on the table, one of them from Liverpool.
