Liverpool were made to pay on two occasions against Watford for sloppy defending from corners - the last being a late equaliser from Miguel Britos after Georginio Wijnaldum failed to clear his lines.

It follows on from their frailties at set-pieces last season when no side in the top six conceded more goals than Liverpool from dead ball situations.

Only Andrew Roberston has been added to Liverpool's back-line this summer but he wasn't even in the match day squad to face the Hornets.

Liverpool's pursuit of Van Dijk continues to drag on with Southampton standing firm over their asking price for the defender.

But Klopp claims signing one player will not automatically fix their issues at the back.

“It's not about a player,” Klopp said. “It's not as though one player can sort all the set-piece problems for Liverpool.

“Of course, it's about positioning. Do the right thing, at the right moment, in the right position.

“It's not like it happened to us last year and now we say 'this will not happen any more'.

“There's no chance it isn't going to happen again. All over the world in football, you'll concede from set-pieces.”

And when Klopp was asked if he was in the market for a new centre-back, the Liverpool boss was as pragmatic as ever.

“We are still working on all parts. We cannot build them. We have to have talks, we're looking at all parts of the team.

“The squad at the moment is not too wide for a lot of games because decisive players are not available. But that's our situation.”
