Stan Collymore believes Liverpool would be foolish to turn down an offer in excess of £105m for Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona have already had two bids knocked back from Liverpool for the Brazil international and club owners Fenway Sports group have issued a statement insisting the player will not be sold this summer.

Coutinho has since handed in a transfer request but Collymore believes Liverpool still hold all the cards.

"It is much easier to sort out a move when a player throws his toys out of the pram and kicks off," he told the Sunday People.

"But I still think it is now a win-win for Liverpool - they either keep him or sell him for big money.

"And if they can squeeze between £105m and £120m out of Barcelona, they should snap their hands off.

"The Brazilian was arguably a £65m player six months ago and has done nothing in my eyes to warrant the extra £30m-odd Barca are already offering."

Jurgen Klopp has hinted Virgil van Dijk will not be the answer to Liverpool's defensive problems.

Liverpool were carved open by Watford at two set-pieces in Saturday's 3-3 draw, with the second resulting in a late equaliser and costing Liverpool all three points.

Many have backed Van Dijk's potential arrival to help Liverpool's defensive woes, but Klopp isn't so sure one player can make such a big impact.

“It's not about a player,” Klopp said. “It's not as though one player can sort all the set-piece problems for Liverpool.

“Of course, it's about positioning. Do the right thing, at the right moment, in the right position."

Juventus have reportedly emerged as surprise contenders to sign Naby Keita

Juventus have emerged as surprise contenders to sign top Liverpool target Naby Keita.

Liverpool are understood to have given up on signing the RB Leipzig midfielder this summer, instead they are willing to try again next year.

But Juventus CEO Guiseppe Marotta has reportedly told Gazzetta dello Sport they are interested in signing the 22-year-old.

It is said Marotta answered "yes" when asked if Juventus were going to sign "an important midfielder".
