At least that’s what Rio Ferdinand has claimed after a fan suggested a potential Premier League return for the winger on Twitter.

Bale has spent the past four years with Real, winning the Champions League three times and the La Liga title once.

This summer he’s been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu though as Zinedine Zidane looks to make room for Kylian Mbappe.

United have been tipped to swoop for Bale if he becomes available, with Jose Mourinho admitting his interest in signing the 28-year-old.

And Ferdinand seems to think his old team would be the perfect fit for the Wales international.

A supporter said to him: "I’d agree Gareth Bale is better than them both [Luis Suarez and Paul Pogba]! He needs to come back to the EPL!"

And Ferdinand replied: "Can't see him leaving Madrid... if he does, next destination needs to be Old Trafford!"

Bale cost Real a then-world-record £85m when they signed him from Tottenham in 2013.

The Spanish giants are likely to demand upwards of £90m if they ever put him on the market.

That figure would help fund a £100m-plus raid on Monaco for fleet-footed forward Mbappe.
