West Ham transfer news: Robert Snodgrass has been linked with Aston Villa - by the bookies

The Scotland international was left out of Slaven Bilic’s squad to face Manchester United on Sunday, despite injuries to Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio.

Instead Bilic chose to name five defenders on the bench, including Declan Rice who has made just two substitute appearances for West Ham.

With Snodgrass not having an obvious reason for missing out at the weekend, bookies Sky Bet have made the 29-year-old a 4/9 chance to join Aston Villa.

That's despite Villa owner Dr Tony Xia saying on Twitter last week that any potential deal for Snodgrass was just rumours.

He is a 13/8 shot to remain at West Ham, having only joining the club in January from Hull.

But after making 15 appearances last year for the Hammers, it is thought he is out of favour with Bilic who has added Marco Arnautovic to the midfield.

First team football for Snodgrass at the London Stadium looks unlikely, but a reunion with former Tigers boss Steve Bruce at Villa Park could ensure he gets a regular game.

The next team in the betting are Sheffield Wednesday at 16/1, with Sunderland and Middlesbrough both 18/1 shots.

And the 29-year-old winger’s former club Leeds United are a 25/1 outsider to bring their former captain back to Elland Road.
