Arsene Wenger is looking to offload a number of Arsenal’s squad players

Arsene Wenger currently has a 33 man Gunners squad and confirmed last week that he wants to get rid of several fringe players.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claims Wenger has put Arsenal’s long-running pursuit of French winger Lemar on the back burner.

And the Arsenal boss is instead looking to sell with Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain among the names who could be set to go.

Sheth said: "The priority at the Emirates is to trim the squad before making any more signings.

"Arsenal are listening to offers for Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy.

"[And] talks are continuing with Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over their futures.

"Both have a year left on their Arsenal contracts."

Wenger admitted last week that his bloated squad needs to be cut down in the final weeks of the transfer window.

He said: "We will let some players go because too much competition for places is too detrimental.

Arsenal’s long-running pursuit of Monaco star Thomas Lemar is on hold

“Not enough competition for places is detrimental also. 33 is too high.

"We want to find a good balance of confidence and urgency that every Premier League game demands.

"We've had some bad starts in the last four years but we've had intensity in our games and the preparation that's needed to be ready so let's go into the Premier League now with the same discipline, the same spirit and let's see where we can go."

Arsenal beat Leicester 4-3 on Friday to kick off the new Premier League season. They take on Stoke this Saturday.
