Philippe Coutinho is desperate to join Barcelona

The Kop have snubbed a £114m offer from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool are continuing to stand firm over the Brazilian and have now rejected three offers from the Catalans for him this summer.

Their stance has always been that he will not leave and their resolve has been tested once again.

Barca have upped the ante as they continue to look for a replacement for Neymar.

Their opening bid of £72m was followed up by a £91m offer last week.

But boss Ernesto Valverde might have to look elsewhere after Jurgen Klopp snubbed the £114m offer.

Starsport understands that a third bid has been turned down for the forward who has already handed in a transfer request.

The Catalans offered €90m (£82m) upfront for the Brazilian, it has been claimed.

Liverpool Echo journalist Kristian Walsh says a large part of the proposal included add ons.

These included things like payments for Champions League wins or Coutinho claiming the Ballon d’Or.

He tweeted: “Third Barca bid consisted of €90million fee, with the remainder in add ons. A ridiculous, derisory offer, to be honest.”Virgil van Dijk was close to completing a £50m switch to Liverpool before Southampton accused them of tapping up the Dutch defender.

Klopp was close to getting his man in July but in the end the deal fell through.

Liverpool are still chasing Van Dijk who is training on his own at Southampton and has handed in a transfer request.

The Daily Mail say the Reds now face having to shell out a massive £70m to sign the 26-year-old.

Liverpool are desperate to bolster their backline ahead of a return to the Champions League.

And Saints manager Mauricio Pellegrino is insisting his star man will stay at St Mary’s.
