Southamption star Van Dijk wants to leave the club and is keen to link up with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to have registered interest in the Dutch defender, 26.
Liverpool pulled out of the race to sign Van Dijk earlier this summer, with Southampton accusing the Reds of tapping up their star man.
However, pundit Osman is backing Liverpool to get the deal over the line before the window shuts at the end of the month.
“Virgil van Dijk has come out and said where he wants to play his football next season,” Osman said on Sky Sports.
“Liverpool obviously want the player and it’s very similar to how Barcelona are courting Philippe Coutinho.
“I actually feel the move will go through, I think Southampton will inevitably accept the offer and accept the money that Liverpool are offering.
“I think they will get their man.”
