Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to return to Man Utd on a short-term deal

Ibrahimovic was superb for United last season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions before a nasty knee injury cut his campaign short.

Jose Mourinho splashed out £75m to sign Lukaku from Everton as a replacement for the enigmatic Swede and the big Belgian has hit the ground running as a Red Devil.

Ibrahimovic, who was released by United at the end of last term, could return to Old Trafford on a short-term deal after making a quick recovery.

The 35-year-old would likely become a back-up to Lukaku but ex-Premier League striker Goater reckons the all-star duo could lead the line together for Mourinho.

He told Sky Sports: "[Ibrahimovic is] an exciting player, even when he isn’t playing, some of his one-line statements.

"I think it’s a shrewd signing, because initially I was thinking if Lukaku was injured, what will be the physical presence United have?

"Having Zlatan will be a really good option for them and he delivers. He’s a quality player and he delivers.

"I think he will be more as a backup and I think there will be games they could play together.

Romelu Lukaku has been highly impressive since moving to Manchester United

“At the end of the day they’re quality players, Lukaku possesses the pace you require when you play with Zlatan.”

Lukaku scored his third goal of the new Premier League season already in United’s 4-0 win over Swansea on Saturday.

Mourinho will hope his new star striker will continue to fire when the Red Devils welcome Leicester to Old Trafford this weekend.
