Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been frustrated in the transfer market this summer

The Reds secured qualification to the group stages of the competition last night.

Their 4-2 win at Anfield over Bundesliga side Hoffenheim saw them progress from the play-offs 6-3 on aggregate.

Liverpool will be in pot three for today’s draw at 5pm BST.

But Klopp had grievances with some players over the importance the Champions League has played in particular deals.

Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho are two players at Liverpool whose futures have been marred with uncertainty.

Coutinho wants to quit Anfield and join the might of Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Can is yet to pen a new contract with his currently set to run out at the end of the season.

And it appears some players Liverpool have chased this summer have not been lured without the guarantee of Europe’s elite club competition.

“It's a big influence on the transfer market, especially if you do it (qualify) more often,” Klopp explained.

“Players we talk to say: ‘if you play Champions League, we would be really interested because the club is good, the manager is not bad’.

“Even if you try to extend a contract with a player in the squad. I always think: ‘WTF (what the f***), it's your job to do it’.

“It’s up to you to help us get there. Don’t expect us to get there and then you join us. We are meant to do this together, and that’s what we did tonight.”

Liverpool have a week left until the transfer window shuts next Thursday.

As a result of last night’s win, though, some deals could now accelerate with the club’s budget also boosted.

Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk has long been chased, while Coutinho may be made to stay.
