Reports in The Standard this week claim Chelsea are confident they can lure the young England winger to Stamford Bridge after contract talks at Arsenal look to have stalled.
The former Southampton prospect has less than a year left on his existing deal and is thought to be seeking improved financial terms as well as assurances on his position in the team.
With mounting speculation linking the Ox with a move away from the club, Arsenal fans have been revisiting footage of the 24-year-old airing his thoughts on current teammates Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil – whose futures at the Emirates are also uncertain.
Speaking to Arsenal Media earlier this summer, the pacy winger said of Sanchez: “He lives, sleeps, eats, breathes football.
“He’s always training when we’ve got a day off, doing his own little training. He goes and finds his own little section of the training ground where nobody is watching and goes and does his own little thing to stop people from telling him to rest.
“He’s always pushing people to be at their best and to help us make him be at his best.”
Later he discussed his relationship with Ozil, describing the playmaker as a “silent assassin”.
“[Mesut] goes about his business quietly. If you wanna engage him in a bit of banter, he’s up for it. If you don’t he’s not bothered.
“He’s the coolest guy ever.”
It comes amid news that winger Alex Iwobi could be set for a shock loan move to Galatasaray.
Reports in Turkish publication Takvim say the 21-year-old could be on his way after talks with manager Cenk Ergün.
