Liverpool have launched a late attempt to sign Monaco star and top Arsenal target Thomas Lemar.

The Daily Telegraph say a club-record bid of €60m (£55m) could be made for the France international.

Monaco are reluctant to sell though after letting a number of their top players depart this summer.

Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko have all exited and Kylian Mbappe is set to follow.

The reports also claim bringing in Lemar would be completely unrelated to Philippe Coutinho’s potential switch to Barcelona.

Manchester United have also been credited with interest in Lemar.

Virgil van Dijk has pleaded with Southampton to sell him before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The centre-back is wanted by Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal and all three will pay £60m to get him, The Sun report.

They claim Van Dijk has had a series of rows with Saints top brass over not being allowed to leave.

The 26-year-old has handed a transfer request into the club and is currently training on his own away from the rest of his team-mates.

Could Thomas Lemar be on his way to Liverpool this week?

Barcelona are ready to pay Liverpool £148m for Philippe Coutinho.

That’s according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon who say the huge asking price has been set by the Reds.

It’s suggested Barca are willing to cough up the hefty fee but there remains a disagreement about the structure of the deal.

Liverpool are demanding around £111m up front and then they want the remaining £37m paid in variables.

Barcelona want the up-front figure to be reduced, though.
