Martin Keown thinks Arsenal are in a crisis

The former defender turned pundit pulled no punches when analysing his old side’s woeful effort in the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool yesterday.

He questioned Arsene Wenger’s transfer and selection policy as well as the Gunners’ defending.

Keown was baffled to see £52m new boy Alexandre Lacazette start on the bench at Anfield as Arsenal failed to register a shot on target.

Shkodran Mustafi was also a substitute and the pundit questioned the decision to sell Gabriel Paulista earlier this summer.

And with everything added together Keown thinks there is a crisis at The Emirates just three games into the season.

Keown told Match of the Day 2: “They had no shots on goal today, Arsenal.

“It’s absolutely unthinkable.

“They’ve conceded eight goals. We were talking about [West Ham boss] Slaven Bilic, this morning, losing his job and they’ve conceded 10.

“Arsenal are next to them.

“This is a crisis at the club at the moment.

“There’s £130m worth of players sitting on the bench.

“Lacazette, we’re told, is the new player, the new hope. Why is he on the bench?

“Some of the rationale for the decisions today, I’m scratching my head.
