West Brom star Jonny Evans has been linked with a move to Manchester City

The West Brom defender is on Pep Guardiola’s wish list and City have had one £18m bid brushed aside by the Midlands club.

Leicester have moved in with a shock £21m offer but West Brom also dismissed that out of hand, indicating they rate the 29-year-old at well over the £30m mark.

City are keen to do business but now have to mull over just how high they are prepared to go to land the former Manchester United star.

Baggies skipper Evans insists he’s happy at The Hawthorns and has no intention of rocking the boat to try and force a transfer through.

But the lure of Champions League football and a move nearer home has obvious appeal for Evans.

The Baggies paid United just £6m for the defender two years ago and boss Tony Pulis would use the profit to finance a move for Liverpool’s £30m-rated French defender Mamadou Sakho.

One man looking to be on his way out at Leicester is £29m record signing Islam Slimani.

Watford hope to get Slimani on loan and will axe their cast-offs to make room for a deadline-day swoop for the Algerian frontman.

Slimani has slipped down the pecking order at the King Power and will be allowed to go but he is also attracting interest from Europe with clubs from France and Turkey keen.

Hornets boss Marco Silva is not short of attacking options following the club record £18m arrival of Andre Gray and Brazilian new boy Richarlison.

West Brom have sent highly-rated teenager Jonathan Leko to Bristol City on a season-long loan.
