Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly turned down the chance to join Chelsea from Arsenal.

The England midfielder, 24, has entered the final 12 months of his contract and wants to leave the Emirates.

And the BBC claim his preferred destination is Anfield - rather than Stamford Bridge.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is apparently concerned he’d have had to play wing-back if he joined Chelsea instead of Liverpool.

Dassler Marques says Liverpool are not looking to replace Philippe Coutinho with Thomas Lemar

Finally, Liverpool’s pursuit of Monaco ace Thomas Lemar is not linked to Barcelona’s interest in Philippe Coutinho.

At least that’s what insiders have told Brazilian journalist Dassler Marques with deadline day looming large.

On Twitter, he revealed: "On Coutinho: sources deny that Liverpool's negotiations for backup (Lemar and etc) are connected to the sale to Barca. No link."

Regardless of whether Liverpool are targeting Lemar as Coutinho’s replacement or not, the 21-year-old Frenchman is likely to cost more than £60m.
