Raheem Sterling will not be heading to Arsenal and is set to stay at Manchester City

A proposed move to Arsenal is off, according to Sky Sports.

Arsenal and City have held talks in recent days over a switch which could see Alexis Sanchez head to the Etihad.

The Gunners would want a player-plus-cash deal to let their star forward leave before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.

Both Sterling and Sergio Aguero were discussed between the two clubs before City saw a formal offer of £50m rejected.

City would prefer a straight-cash deal for Sanchez and are expected to come back with a fresh bid today.

But the possibility of Sterling being included is no longer an option.

Sky Sports say the England international, 22, will not be going to Arsenal as part of any Sanchez deal.

And his future now looks secure under Pep Guardiola with Sterling said to be staying at the Manchester club.

It remains to be seen if City and Arsenal will strike an agreement over Sanchez.

But Guardiola is determined to land the Chile star, who is currently away on international duty but keen to join.
