Calum Chambers looks to be staying at Arsenal this summer

The North London club have turned down Leicester City's offer, wanting more money for the youngster at this late stage of the window.

Arsene Wenger told Crystal Palace they would have to pay £27m for the defender earlier in the summer and the club seem set to stick to their guns at this late stage.

Chambers has yet to make a single appearance for the club so far this season and has frequently struggled to hold down a place in Arsenal's first team, being sent out on loan to relegated Middlesbrough last term.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have rejected a bid this afternoon but Leicester chief Craig Shakespeare has been pursuing the player for some time.

Leicester are keen to add to their defensive options after acquiring England central-defender Harry Maguire from Hull City earlier in the window.

Chambers may be open to a move away from the Emirates, as he looks to cement a starting berth at a Premier League club.

He was linked with a move back to Southampton earlier in the window, after it emerged Virgil van Dijk was unhappy at the club.

The 22-year-old was signed for £16m back in 2014 but has only made 36 appearances since arriving from the Saints.
