The 31-year-old made his first appearance this season during Arsenal’s mauling at Liverpool last weekend – and he might have been dealt another blow during Les Bleus’ game against the Netherlands tonight.
He nipped in front of Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben to steal the ball but was hoofed in the heel for his troubles by the ex-Chelsea man.
The force of the kick caused Koscielny’s foot to hit the turf at an awkward angle, appearing to jar his ankle painfully.
He lay on the turf for a number of minutes after the blow, leaving Arsenal fans in cold sweats fearing a serious injury.
“Looks like it's gonna be a while before we see Koscielny again. Looks bad,” said one viewer.
Another wrote: “We're close to having three full-backs in our back four, Koscielny's Achilles is surely finished after that.”
“Robben trying to take Koscielny out, someone remind this bald p**** that we're not playing Bayern Munich this year,” added a third furious supporter.
Thankfully, Koscielny rose back to his feet gingerly and was able to continue playing.
It is unclear whether he sustained any lasting damage in the tackle – but with just two hours left in the transfer window, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be hoping his most reliable defender has escaped unharmed.
