Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims the La Liga giants have now accepted they will not be signing the Brazilian before tonight’s transfer deadline.

Liverpool have stood firm on Coutinho all summer, rejecting several bids from Barca.

Balague tweeted: “In English: nothing new really.

“FCB and Coutinho entourage have finally accepted there is no way Coutinho is leaving.

“It took them some time”.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request at Liverpool to try and force a switch to the Nou Camp but the Reds have refused to sell.

Barcelona wanted the 25-year-old to replace Neymar who left in a record-breaking £198m move to Paris St-Germain.

Liverpool have had a very good summer in the transfer window and keeping Coutinho will provide Jurgen Klopp with an extra boost after the international break.

The Reds have signed Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool return to action against Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday, September 9.
