That’s the opinion of Alejandro Moreno who believes the La Liga side are set to miss out.

Barca have been chasing Coutinho all summer and stepped up their pursuit after Neymar completed a £198m switch to PSG.

And Moreno is convinced the Reds ace is going nowhere.

“How many bids have they put in?” he told ESPN FC.

“How many times has Liverpool said no? So what am I going to say? No.”

Arsenal ace Ozil and Leicester winger Mahrez have also been rumoured as potential alternatives to Coutinho for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

But Moreno reckons they would have to be desperate if they moved for either of the Premier League stars.

“The desperation from Barcelona comes from the fact they’ve been told no by Liverpool,” he added.

“Is Mesut Ozil staying at Arsenal? I think he still is.

“I don’t think at this point in his career that Mesut Ozil will add a whole lot of value to Barcelona.

“If I feel that way about Mesut Ozil, I feel that way about Riyad Mahrez.

“The desperation of Barcelona may just change this the other way, it may just say ‘you know what, we need to get something, anybody, anything’.

“They clearly overpaid for Dembele and they may be willing to overpay for one of these guys but I’m still thinking of none of both of them because they are not, in this point in their careers, Barcelona players.”
