Lionel Messi is furious about Barcelona missing out on their transfer targets

The Spanish giants sold Neymar to Paris St-Germain in a world-record £200m move this summer.

Barca landed Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele for around £100m as a replacement but the La Liga side were still in for other players.

Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho and PSG ace Angel Di Maria were on Barca’s wish list but deals didn’t materialise.

And according to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, Barca star Messi is furious with the club’s summer business.

They claim the Argentina international asked Di Maria and Juventus striker Paulo Dybala to join Barca but the pair snubbed his offer.

Messi also wanted Barca to land Coutinho and PSG midfielder Marco Verratti.

Don Balon add that Messi feels the Barca squad is worse than last season and he’s worried about the direction the club is going in.

The 30-year-old is currently in talks over a new deal at the Nou Camp and he could snub an improved contract offer.

Barca made three bids for Coutinho this summer, with Liverpool demanding £183m on deadline day for the Brazil international.
