The Portuguese manager came on for the last third of the charity match for Team Shearer, in aid of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

He made an immediate impact, managing to brilliantly punch a ball away from a corner kick.

But it was what he did after the 90 minutes that fans loved.

Having been unlucky to not keep out any of penalties during the shoot-out, Mourinho decided he would have a crack.

He stepped up against Kasabian bass player Chris Edwards before calmly slotting into the bottom right.

The 54-year-old – in typical fashion – refused to celebrate and strolled to the side of the pitch to put his gloves back on.

Fans watching the moment were quick to praise Mourinho, as well as taking a sly dig at Morata’s infamous penalty miss in the Community Shield.

“Jose Mourinho is a better penalty taker than Alvaro Morata,” one wrote.

Another added: “Should take them instead of Lukaku from next time.”

And a third commented: “Mourinho officially has the best penalty conversion rate for United this season.”
