That’s according to the Mirror, who claim the Brazil international is upset over the Reds’ refusal to make an agreement like the one Luiz Suarez secured in 2013.

Coutinho was pursued intensively by Barcelona this summer following the departure of compatriot Neymar to Paris St-Germain.

And the La Liga giants made their interest in him known in the form of three failed bids - coming in at £72m, £90m and £118m respectively.

Jurgen Klopp managed to keep hold of Coutinho as the Spanish transfer deadline drew to a close on Friday night.

And that was despite Coutinho being desperate to join Barcelona, borne out in him handing in a transfer request which was rejected by Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG).

The 25-year-old is thought to be keen on swapping Anfield for the Nou Camp in future.

However, the Mirror reckon there has been no compromise reached between player and club over a move happening in 2018.

That stance goes against FSG's approach to Suarez’s future, with the Uruguayan told in 2013 that he could leave the following year if a suitable bid came in.

Liverpool’s decision to not make the same vow is said to have upset Coutinho, who’s yet to play for them this season.

The playmaker has been in action for his country though and he scored in their 2-0 World Cup qualifier win over Ecuador.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be hoping he’s fit to face Pep Guardiola’s title-chasing Manchester City on Saturday.
