That is according to Reds legend John Barnes.

Arsenal sold the 24-year-old to Liverpool on deadline day in a deal worth £40m.

Having snubbed Chelsea for Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain was eager to continue his development under Klopp.

One other major factor for choosing Liverpool was his intention to progress in central midfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has largely been used on the wing by Arsenal and England.

But he also has plenty of stamina, which Barnes feels would have attracted Klopp in particular due to his philosophy.

“Jurgen Klopp likes players who play with high intensity, high energy,” Barnes told HITC.

“He can play in one of the three midfield positions.

“He likes players who are very direct, very strong, very quick, which is what he brings.

"He can also play in one of the wide positions in terms of where Mane or Salah plays.

“I think he is a typical Jurgen Klopp-type signing.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been away on international duty with England.

And the Liverpool new boy started for Gareth Southgate’s side in their 2-1 win over Slovakia at Wembley last night.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could make his debut for the Reds at Manchester City on Saturday (12.30pm).
