The Belgium international burst onto the scene under David Moyes having been on the fringes during Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season at Old Trafford.

And that form saw him rewarded with a bumper five-year deal, as well as the No.11 shirt previously worn by Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs.

However, Januzaj has failed to live up to his potential and underwhelmed during loan stints at Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland.

Jose Mourinho signalled his intent to let the 22-year-old leave on a permanent basis when he left him out of United’s squad for this summer’s tour of the USA.

But the youngster didn’t take the hint and splashed the cash on a Cheshire mansion.

The Sun say the house in Altrincham cost Januzaj a cool £2.7m plus £237,750 in stamp duty.

A source told the paper: “Adnan fell in love with the property as soon as he saw it.

“He was delighted when his offer was accepted.

The sale dragged on a bit but he was hopeful he had a future at Old Trafford. Manager Jose Mourinho had other ideas.

“He’s a wealthy boy and it’s always good to put money into bricks and mortar, but I’m not sure many people would choose to complete a house purchase a week before they move abroad to work for five years.”

Januzaj scored five goals in 66 appearances for the Red Devils before his move to La Liga.
