The Belgium international swapped the Premier League for the Bundesliga on deadline day in a season-long loan switch.

And Starsport understands the Reds allowed him to head for Germany to gain first-team experience after he made just 14 Premier League starts under Jurgen Klopp last term.

Asked about the move, which Liverpool received a fee of £6m for, Origi said: "I wanted a new challenge and Wolfsburg really wanted to have me. I see the chance for me to develop further here."

Liverpool signed Divock Origi from Ligue 1 side Lille for £10m in July 2014

Origi then revealed he’s prepared to slot in wherever Wolfsburg boss Andries Jonker asks him too.

The 22-year-old said: "My favourite position is in attack, but I can play wherever the coach wants me to."

Origi linked up with his Wolfsburg team-mates for the first time on Tuesday after returning from international duty.

And he says he’s ready to make his debut against Hannover this weekend if Jonker gives him the nod.

Origi added: "I feel good both mentally and physically, so I could certainly play on Saturday.

"As a player, you always feel ready. At the end of the day, the coach must decide how far along I am."

Wolfsburg sit 11th ahead of their clash with Hannover, having taken three points from their opening two games of the season.
