The striker has been a massive hit at City and will line up against Liverpool tomorrow.

And former Chelsea full-back Juliano Belletti believes his fellow Brazilian will soon be seen as a worldwide superstar.

“Gabriel Jesus can definitely become one of the best in the world, especially in the next year,” said Belletti.

“He has the right manager in Pep Guardiola.

“The manager needs to know how to make your best player play his best football for the team, not just for himself but for the team and Gabriel did that from the beginning.

“He is very intelligent, he has a lot of personality as Ronaldo and Romario had, but I don’t see him like them. He is different.”

Jesus got off the mark in the Premier League this season just before the international break, scoring as City won 2-1 at Bournemouth.

The Brazilian enjoyed a spectacular start at Manchester City following his £27m move from Palmeiras in January.

He scored three goals in his first two Premier League starts before breaking his foot at Bournemouth in February, putting him out of action for more than two months.

Jesus then finished the campaign with three goals in three matches as Guardiola’s men finished third and sealed Champions League qualification.

Belletti knows all about the demands of adapting to English football, having spent three years at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Barcelona in 2007.

“It was a good surprise for me that he began so well, because when you arrive in the middle of the season there is a lot of pressure and expectation and he is young,” he said.

“But his personality and his confidence were amazing.

“Adapting is about confidence. The confidence you need in Brazil is not the same confidence you need here.

“You need to arrive, to feel comfortable to be able to play your football. So when he arrived here, from the first minutes he took the ball and showed confidence and that is very important.

“Also, it is not the same football here as in Brazil. It is maybe more physical. It is faster.

“You must not bring Brazil with you. You need to think as an English player but always with confidence to play your football. Putting both together makes for success.”
