Paul Pogba suffered an apparent hamstring injury in Man Utd’s clash against Basel

Pogba limped out of Manchester United’s Champions League tie against Basel this evening after just 19 minutes.

The French superstar pulled up in pain after attempting a challenge in the Group A clash and was quickly replaced by Marouane Fellaini.

Premier League great Gerrard says the scenes at Old Trafford will be worrying for United fans.

And he fears Pogba could be set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines.

Gerrard told BT Sport: "It certainly looks like a hamstring.

"Me and Frank [Lampard] were talking off camera and when you get a moment like that they are at least three weeks.

"If you get a bit of tightness in your hamstring you’re probably back within a week.

"But it’s worrying for United fans. This could be a three-weeker, or maybe more."

Fellow pundit Lampard added: "It’s the sort of injury you don’t mind getting early in the season.

Jose Mourinho could be without Man Utd star Paul Pogba for several weeks

"You’re going to get them, he got one at the important stage at the end of last year.

"At this stage they’ve got a strong squad, Fellaini’s come in and done well.

"Get it right, it might take three or four weeks as Steven says but eventually he’ll be back and firing."

United take on Everton in the Premier League on Sunday before an EFL Cup tie against Burton three days later.
