The Manchester United superstar was forced to limp off early during tonight’s Champions League tie against Basel.

The Frenchman, named captain for the night, pulled up in pain and was replaced by Marouane Fellaini after just 19 minutes of the Group A clash.

United went on to claim a convincing 3-0 win at Old Trafford but Pogba, who has enjoyed a fine start to the new season, now looks set for a stint on the sidelines.

Mourinho, whose side face Everton this Sunday, is not fazed by the blow to his star midfielder, insisting United have plenty of other options.

He said: "I didn't speak yet with him or the medical department but the squad is for injuries, the squad is for suspensions.

"We don't cry with injuries, so no Paul for Sunday? We have [Ander] Herrera, we have [Michael] Carrick, we have Fellaini and we have [Nemanja] Matic."

Fellaini put United in front after coming on with Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford adding the other goals.

Mourinho criticised his stars for playing ‘PlayStation football’ against Basel at times and not respecting their Swiss opponents enough.

He said: “We played quite well but after 2-0 everything changed.

"We stopped to play, we stopped to think, we stopped to play seriously, we stopped to make the right decisions on the pitch.

"Bad decisions, fantasy football, PlayStation football, tricks and when you stop to play as a team I don't like, and you gamble a bit.

"Probably the players felt the game was under control at 2-0 but football is football, you have to respect opponents."
