The La Liga side will not make a move for the Brazilian until the end of the season.

And that’s because Coutinho played in the Champions League match against Sevilla on Wednesday evening.

His appearance means if he did make the switch to Barca in January he would be unable to play for Ernesto Valverde’s side in Europe’s elite competition.

And Marca claim Jean-Michael Seri is now the player the Catalan Club could target instead.

Liverpool managed to keep hold of Coutinho, despite intense interest from Barca throughout the summer.

The 25-year-old was wanted at the Nou Camp following the record-breaking £198m departure of Neymar to PSG.

Coutinho is set to stay at Liverpool for another season and Jurgen Klopp has said he could start against Burnley tomorrow.

“Coutinho should be ready. I was really happy with how the crowd welcomed him, I don’t think anyone was 100 per cent sure on this,” he said.

“I think as a Liverpool family, we were sensitive to it. For him it was good.

“So far he has trained outstandingly.”

Liverpool welcome Burnley to Anfield at 3pm tomorrow afternoon.
