And Leeds are showing signs under new boss Thomas Christiansen of going on a march back to the Premier League.

It is a new-look Leeds with Christiansen, 44, who has quickly impressed with his transfer dealings.

One of those signings, Pierre-Michel Lasogga, is threatening to make other Championship clubs regret their scepticism about him.

Lasogga, 25, was available on loan from Hamburg and was touted to clubs at what was seen as his level – the highly competitive Championship.

There were reservations, for instance, about his pace.

But the former Germany Under-21s centre-forward is a powerful target man with an eye for goal. At 6ft 3in, he is particularly strong in the air.

Lasogga was a deadline-day signing from the Bundesliga after the deal appeared to have hit a hitch.

Leeds are relieved that problem was overcome as Lasogga, who scored twice in the 5-0 thrashing of Burton Albion last weekend, is already seen as a key player in their push for promotion.

THEY are the Manchester blues – and it’s not City.

Blue, or navy blue, seems Manchester United’s colour when it comes to Europe.

United fans at Old Trafford for last Tuesday’s Champions League game against Basel were shocked to see a blue cover to the programme.

But that is because the Red Devils wore blue when George Best, Sir Bobby Charlton and Co won the club’s first European Cup in 1968.

This is the 50th anniversary of that historic season.

To continue the blue theme at the Reds, United were also in those change colours when they won the Europa League last season.
