The versatile Red Devils winger has less than a year remaining on his current contract.

As a result, Young is keen to secure his future at the club with Jose Mourinho’s side on the rise.

Manchester United have not looked as dominant as they do now since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

And with the club eyeing more silverware, a title challenge and Champions League success this season, Young wants to be a part of the ongoing project.

According to The Telegraph, the 32-year-old is desperate to stay.

He feels United are on the brink of something special under Mourinho.

And while nothing is imminent, it is said discussions could take place after the New Year.

Young has become an important squad member again in recent times and was named captain for United’s 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The ex-England international was deployed at right wing-back against the Russian side and took the armband.

The Telegraph add he now hopes to prove to Mourinho he deserves a new deal.

Young said: “It is exciting times here and I want to be part of the success.

“As a footballer you want to win trophies and be part of a successful team. And for me Manchester United is that club.

“The most successful club in England and hopefully we can add to the trophies we won last season and hopefully win some more.”

Young has been at United since a 2011 move from Aston Villa.

He started his career at Watford.
